Google Goes Black for Earth Hour

Cool

[livejournal.com profile] lidocafe: had you realized that this will occur right in the middle of our movie night? Strikes me that many of us would, otherwise, choose to observe it... Maybe we could take an hour's break in the middle of whatever we're going to be watching, light candles, drink wine?

Yes, I've been struggling with this one and thought I'd broach the topic at the time. However, it looks like movie night may be canceled, since it currently consists of only you, me, and E. We're great company, but isn't there a rule that teachers should not outnumber students in any situation . . . ?

I hope the legislature is going to turn its lights off.

. . . and wouldn't it be more appropriate for google to be unavailable so that those who log on at that time will be told, closed for earth hour? Might they?

But isn't that something of an existential question - how will you know whether Google is running, if you don't logon...?

Too bad about movie night, but I shall light a fire in my fireplace and drink wine.

Haha. True. If a tree falls in the forest . . .

I was thinking the message could be there so that when people logged on, they'd get a big, "hey, dude, turn off that computer" vibe.

Yes, I'm sad about movie night, but Brianna and Greg have already said probably to next Saturday.
