Are Those Cauliflours?

Just watching the gold medal presentation for Christine Nesbitt, and struck by the greenish bouquet that all the medalists were given... not sure what they are - they look like cauliflours.

But I have to confess, it's nice to hear our national anthem playing. And her parents there in the audience.
Yay.

I've been getting some fun updates from my friend mkb, who works right downtown in Vancouver, and sends comments about seeing the Chinese pair skaters, or about all the cheers on Robson St.

Love your icon. And as I type this, I can hear the family watching the Olympics in the other room :-)

At first glance I thought they were yellow chrysanthemums in a green wrapper; at second glance I wasn't sure. Maybe some of the chrysanths were in tight bud?

Cauliflowers are rarer and more special than usual, at least in the UK right now. I read in Restaurant magazine that, thanks to the ongoing cold, the UK cauliflower crop is ruins so prices are much higher and supply much more limited than usual.

green hydrangeas?

Interesting! No wonder they're so expensive. Cauliflower cheese becomes a gourmet delight.
