Weeds will inherit the earth

Spent the afternoon pulling bindweed out of my south flowerbed, along the fenceline. I won't dignify the stuff with the name "morning glory," which is what some people call it - to me, that name's reserved for the much more civilized pretty, blue or pink annual that one would actually welcome in one's garden. I'm talking about the evil perennial white monster that positively gloats at me from in amongst a climbing rose where I can't get at it. Oh well, I did manage to clear most of it - I'm sure it will be back before long, though. And I picked about two pounds of raspberries, as some compensation.

Since I don't feel like doing anything to fix up the yard this year, I kind of like the way it is taking over.

Of course, next year, when I do decide to do something with the yard, I will see it as evil and invasive and no doubt despise it.
