One of the Myrddraal lifted its head

This was the subject line of some Spam in my college email system. Most intriguing - there ought to be a book in there somewhere, if there isn't already.

I'm starting to get fascinated by spam. Not that I enjoy it, but recently I received on that was from Don (we have an academic named Don, not one of my favourite people) and the subject was have you always been small. It just amused me when I read it Don, have you always been small. I would say the answer was yes.

Some of them are delightfully inane. But I still delete them.

I think it's from the third book of The Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan, actually.

wouldn't surprise me. I thought it sounded familiar - though I never read more than the first Jordan.

Yeah, the subject lines with bits of text from them remind me of Borges' library. Also, I'm fascinated by some of the sender names. A friend and I once started to write an email story peopled entirely by characters named after spam senders.

But why are you checking your college email when you're on vacation?!

Because some people that I want to "talk" to, like Jennifer Stein and maybe Maureen, only know that address. I'm ignoring all work-related items (there hasn't been much traffic, anyway)
