Well, if even I can look at it without scrabbling for my mouse (SCROLL DAMMIT SCROLL!), I guess it's not that bad. It has a sort of muppet effect (dude, what's UP with those massive face-thingies?), though if the thing moved, I'd be logging off immediately.

How interesting, everyone (here and on Flickr) refers to it as a he. Actually, it's more likely a she. Black Widows aren't the only spiders to consume their mates. Great shot! I wish I'd had a macro lens for the two spiders I've captured so far. The detail is so impressive.

hmmm - that IS interesting. Some kind of reverse sexism?? (didn't anyone read Charlotte's Web, for heaven's sake??) It's fierce, ugly and creepy looking - therefore it's male. hahaha.

Well, I used "it" and "thing." The "dude" is, to me, nongendered, like "you guys!"

"this guy doesn't seem quite so scary..." Maybe that's the determining factor. If it isn't scary it's male. hahaha

Hahaha. I am reminded of my daughter's comment that anyone who bites off the head of her children's father might not make a good mother . . .
