Sunday in the Park with Robinson

We did the Beaver Lake 10k again today, and it was rep. mixt. as for last week, except we had wind and I took my camera. If you're wondering about this sudden urge to go on LONG hikes, it's all part of the "incredible shrinking intertext" project :)

path with robinson

Here's Robsey coming towards me on the path.

no martinis

This sign amused me - "no martinis"? Here in Canada, probably something that looked like beer would be more to the point. And you obviously have to have a clear head so that you can ride your bicycle backwards...

And there were some late-blooming "easter lilies" (erythronium)

Good luck with the shrinking project. I just joined Weight Watchers Online myself.

Good luck with that! :)

The mental image of someone strolling up that path with a martini in hand tickled me pink.

HAH! I didn't even notice it was a martini until you pointed it out - I must be the target audience! ;)

Let me know how long hikes do for the "shrinking". Running isn't doing it for me, so maybe I'm trying too hard?

I think if you do something a lot, it stops being useful (for shrinkage). A close friend of mine has been growing more and more rotund in recent years, and she walks miles. But she always has, and always at the same leisurely pace. Probably if she sped up, it would make a difference. I walk every day, but not necessarily long distances - I've found that if I need to shrink a little bit I double my distances or go faster, and that usually does the trick. Better than "dieting," though I will be watching my intake over the next few weeks.

That sign is gold. While I am crestfallen to see that James Bond is prohibited from walking around Beaver Lake, I am heartened to know that at least the bicyclists will be riding forward and thus will be less likely to run over me.
