And One More Link of Interest

Thank you to [livejournal.com profile] sartorias for the link to this transcript of Lois McMaster Bujold's speech at WorldCon about the "future" of SF.

I love her reference to Georgette Heyer as a kind of "stealth SF" writer.

And I love even more the revelation that there's going to be a NEW MILES BOOK!!!!

Bounce bounce bounce.

Wasn't that wonderful?

I've felt for a long time that Heyer appealed so much partly because she successfully created a secondary universe, to which us genre types responded.

Excellent link - thank you very much. New Miles is wonderful - plus chickens! And I've really enjoyed the
Sharing Knife
books so far. She comes across as such an interesting and intelligent person, doesn't she?

Hey! Welcome back :)

Yes, I always think she sounds lovely - and her author photo shows her to be delightfully middle-aged and _normal_! (not that other authors are not "normal," but she looks kind of cosy, not intimidating at all)
