I'm still laughing at "my car was broken into and all your essays were stolen." Do you think it would sound as much like BS coming from a teacher as it does from a student?
I know what you mean about the change in times. I don't think I ever spoke to a prof unless I was invited to do so. When I handed essays back last week, two students asked if they could rewrite before we were even out of the room. They hadn't even read their comments! Their argument for receiving a chance no one else got was that they wanted/needed something better. Well, ME TOO!
