GOD I hate the first week of class. There's no place to park and the cafeteria's crowded and I have sad-eyed students begging to be let into the class that they need desperately or they won't finish their program... And it doesn't help that the students in my section of my online composition class got loaded into the _other_ section of the online composition class... Thank all the gods that I had retained "designer access" to said section (this being in the charge of a newbie) and was thus able with a certain level of aplomb simply to do my orientation in his section instead of mine. That was after jumping up and down going "fuckity fuckity fuck" in front of the class. I hope they didn't mind. And I should really be preparing a class on Beowulf and not writing in here, but I felt it necessary to vent.

Hee. I'm sure they didn't mind.

Well, I did preface it by putting it in the context of Hugh Grant's comments at the beginning of "Four Weddings and a Funeral" and said "I'm not really saying this, it's a quote from a movie"!

Not to capitalize on your pain or anything, but, I am refreshed to hear that it's just as annoying for instructors as it is for us students!

But where Camosun's parking is bad, there is UVic's bookstore that's just as bad. I absolutely hate that place. I'm about to go for the THIRD time this week, because they were missing the last of my coursepacks. I'm very slowly getting them all. Really annoying to stand in line for over an hour for one coursepack!

I wish you'd used Hugh Grant's statement in our class together! That would have loosened that group up, and made me hysterical. :D

I wish you'd said

Oh my. I know what the UVic bookstore is like. shudder. It's refreshing to know that I can perhaps feel free to be more myself than the "professional" persona that I usually wear - and perhaps make more personal contact... Sorry if we didn't connect as much as we could have done in that class.

Well, it's good to see that you are more comfortable now than you were a year ago. It must be hard as an instructor, to find your "voice," for lack of a better term. I realize that sounds a little like writing, but I feel that it works here.

I don't think I connected with anyone that term in question. It was the hardest term of my career, I must say, both for intellectual and personal reasons. In retropsect, I should have taken a year off to recover.

Anyway, I got to the bookstore right at opening this morning, got my coursepack, and was outta there within 10 minutes! It was great! :D
