It's interesting how many people share that opinion of Pullman, yet he has such acclaim. I really don't know what it's for... And, yes, you have to think about how many of these award winners seem to satisfy some adult idea of quality and not entertainment value. Or be something like Tom's Midnight Garden, which is thoughtful and lovely, but just... not something that kids would necessarily want to read. hmmm.
