Yes, I came to McKinley as an adult, too (I was in my twenties by the time she was published, I think). I can't remember whether I discovered her in the children's books section of the library or the fantasy section in the bookstore :) By the way, thanks for the heads-up that she has a new book out - I've pre-ordered it from Amazon!
