I rather like the notion that all over the world, people are reading.

I'm not, because my book hasn't arrived yet. Silly of me to order from Amazon - I should have just gone out and bought one. Still, I have housecleaning to do to pass the time.

I'm a slow reader, and can't just drop everything to read HP, so even when it does arrive I don't anticipate being able to comment on it until at least mid week. It's going to be difficult, if not impossible, to avoid spoilers, but I'll try.

I pre-ordered from Amazon with a couple of CD's I bought months ago - I knew they'd ship me the CD's before the HP book even if I only signed up for the free shipping option.

My main motivation was considering HP the sort of book I enjoy - when it's on sale for 40% off or less. Apparently Loblaws is selling them for 50% off, so now I'm kinda sorry I didn't just fill up my Amazon order another way.

Except then if I had I'd probably have stayed in all weekend reading it instead of going out in the world and socializing, so it's probably just as well.

In many ways, that was the most brilliant thing about this weekend. Like being briefly transported to Thursday Next's universe, where no-one questions the importance of books and is passionate about reading.

Two of us. One copy of the book. C is reading it first as I have a dog show this weekend. I'll take it with next weekend to the agility trial. I'm desperately hanging onto the hope that I'll be able to tune out/ignore any spoilage between now and Thursday!
