Well, I'm not sure, but there were what looked like rat droppings all over. I don't to be honest know what raccoon poop looks like :) And while I heard muffled thumping, I didn't hear any of the growling that you get with 'coons.
I wouldn't want to throw Clio out to the less than tender mercies of a raccoon, though.
