As I was sitting here working, looking down at my laptop("here" is at my dining room table, where I can look through french windows at my back deck with bird feeder, and overlook the garden), I heard a loud THUNK. I looked up to find the bird feeder deserted, and to see a Cooper's Hawk staring balefully out of the pear tree. It had obviously just made an attempted hit, but didn't seem to have caught anything ... that time. It glided away before I had a chance to snap a portrait, but my camera is at the ready in case it returns.
