The BBC has published a run-down of this year's Booker Prize nominees. I'm ashamed to admit that I'd only heard of one of them and have read none. The McEwan is on my to read list, though, and some of the others look interesting, especially Master Pip, which I've heard good things about. The Bookers are always a good way to find out about new writers or books.
On the subject of literary prizes, the World Fantasy Award nominations are out. I'm please to see The Privilege of the Sword among them, and The Orphan's Tales, which is also on my "to read" list.
On radio, a new series probes the historical Macbeth. For those of us outside the UK, we'll have to hope that the programs will be archived online.
And finally, my kind of archaeological research: historical beer
