What is it about home renovations, which - more than anything except possibly pregnancy - seems to prompt so many people to give so much unsolicited advice?
You know what? I'm a big, grown up girl. I know more or less how much money I want to spend. I know how much I'm prepared to do myself and how much I can expect (or pay) others to do. I HAVE a contractor who has done two big jobs for me before: both on time, on budget, and very skillfully done.
So please will you just STFU about "you should..." and "you ought to..." and "why don't you..." and "oh, no, you don't want..." Because I DO, and I DON'T, and I KNOW, and if it all goes wrong it'll be MY problem but there probably wasn't a hell of a lot I could have done to prevent it that I haven't already done, and it's MY house and MY money, and I'll bloody well do what I like with it!!
And if any of you dares to chime in with the "you should..." and "you ought to..." I'll bloody well cut you off my flist. So there.
