Thank you to [livejournal.com profile] sartorias for the link to this transcript of Lois McMaster Bujold's speech at WorldCon about the "future" of SF.

I love her reference to Georgette Heyer as a kind of "stealth SF" writer.

And I love even more the revelation that there's going to be a NEW MILES BOOK!!!!

Wasn't that wonderful?

I've felt for a long time that Heyer appealed so much partly because she successfully created a secondary universe, to which us genre types responded.
