Meanwhile, at the age of fifty-three, I have a flower tattooed on my ankle*.

I tried to find the "perfect" image or symbol and didn't find one that really hit the spot. Then I realized that it didn't really matter, it was the gesture that was symbolic. It represents first and foremost my delightful group of friends, whom I love, and who banded together to give me this symbol of myself in some strange way. It is freedom, and a new beginning, and "woo hoo! Look at me! I have a tattoo on my ankle."

And, guys, I know I asked you to come with me, but when push came to shove I just needed to do it and in some ways to prove to myself that I could do it on my own, so I did.

*In the great LJ tradition, I should post the photo, but it's pretty new and not healed yet.  Maybe in a week or so.  Those of you who participate in movie night will see it then.  Ms Lido will see it tomorrow :)

Congrats. I was expecting a bee, but a flower is nice too, especially for such an avid gardener.

That's what I thought :)

Sounds like you did something important. And yes, it definitely needs a photo- this post appeared ahead of someone showing off pink knee socks, and the next poster modelled a corset...

Oh yes, we definitely want a photo when it's healed up and is looking good.

You know, I have actually toyed with the idea of a nose piercing. Perhaps, I will do it one day. 60 does sound like a suitable age. :)

That is very exciting! Can't wait to see the photo.

heh :) The corset will be _next_ year. btw - welcome, and thanks for the add! I've often seen you around, as I think we have a number of friends in common.

When I was in Paris I saw this absolutely stunning elderly lady with white hair, impeccably dressed in black pants and a black coat, but with high top running shoes and a diamond stud in her nose. I thought "yeah! that's my kind of style"

Well, I'm hoping that you and Helen will get to see it in the flesh so to speak! I thought about getting "now, here" but couldn't think of the best way to do it, or where.

Fingers crossed, yes! 'Now, here' would be cool too, but as you say, hard to figure out. (I always worry I'm confusing them for some reason, except for 'New Hero'!)

I just noticed the title of this post when I scrolled past it again, and then I saw this comment after thinking HOLY COW A NOSE STUD WOULD LOOK AMAZING ON INTERTEXT! And then I rushed to comment.

I think you should do it. It would look divine, elegant, and beautiful.

Maybe you can treat yourself while in Venice? A teensy little piercing to remember the trip by? You could model it at the conference. :D

Haha, I'm sorry, I am sounding awfully peer-pressure-y. Come on, everybody's doing it! You don't have to inhale!

:-) The _tattoo_ is to commemorate this year and my trip and the conference!! One major body alteration at a time, please. I confess, though, that I have from time to time toyed with the notion of a nose-stud. I think it will be a great way to celebrate turning sixty ;-)

(you should have heard what ms lido and I suggested I should do when I'm seventy... no, I think you shouldn't *grin*)

HAHA well if you don't tell me, I'm going to assume the most obscene ;)

I think a nose-stud would be a fine and suitable way to celebrate another milestone in the future. :D
