Cheers!

I'm here

Self-portrait in fountain: Cromwell Rd

And it's not actually raining! I'm drinking a g&t in my hotel room, munching on "buffalo mozzarella and herbs" crisps, and will shortly have a supper of cold chicken and salad and strawberries and cream (and more gin).

I've been up for more than 27 hours (barring some light sleeping on the plane). I'm very tired, but trying to tough it out so as to force my body onto a more normal schedule as quickly as possible.

Anyway - I've settled into my nice cosy little hotel room

I went shopping for groceries, and then explored my neighbourhood

The Street Where I Live

My Local

There is a Tube strike, at least for tomorrow, but somehow I don't feel like it's going to slow me down all that much!

It's so great to be here. See you tomorrow!

Thanks! I'm fascinated by all the different architectural styles in this neighbourhood.

Welcome to this side of the ocean!

Thanks! I look forward to seeing you in Bristol :-)

Oh yay! I stayed at that same hotel two years ago, and loved it and the neighborhood.
N.B. you are very close to the house where Freddie Mercury used to live :)

Have fun! I miss all the Brit flavors of potato chips! I was always boggling: really? that flavor too?

Yeah, I had to pass on "roast chicken and thyme" chips, but am holding out for "roast lamb and mint"!

Yay for Base2Stay! It's so great having a little kitchen, and being in such a lovely residential area. I'm also just down the road from where the discoverer of King Tut's tomb used to live :-)

Welcome to Blighty! (I'm in Oxford - which is close enough to get to London occasionally, but not right now, sadly.)

Good to see you this side of the Pond!

Lovely pics!

Hope the toughing-it-out brings a speedy return of a comfortable schedule!

Ahhhhhh!

Thanks for the intro to this medium, Intertext. It's the next best thing to being there. Here's to more photos and more G&Ts: bottoms up/salud/down the hatch/here's mud in yer eye/prosit!!

Living vicariously _so hard_ right now. The neighbourhood looks awesome! And I envy the variety of crisp flavours you have access to!

I'm glad you are settling in. I love London for short breaks, but I wouldn't want to live there ever again.

That looks like Portland Place... (the houses with pillars).

It's not you - it does always rain in London. And when it doesn't - on those rare occasions - they have hosepipe bans so that people can't water their gardens and parks go dry. Stupid!

How I don't miss London. Must be nice to visit it as a tourist!
