Allow me a literary squee. My friend KP gave me for my birthday my choice of any book from the Persephone books catalogue, and my book arrived in the post today: A London Child of the 1870s by Molly Hughes. I had a hard time choosing - narrowed it down to three, and then decided on this one. These books are so lovely! oursin and all my other UK lj friends know all about them, but I take a great pleasure in these elegant little volumes with beautiful end papers and their own matching bookmark. There's some bitter-sweetness to this, as my mum would have loved not only the concept but the book itself, I'm sure. Oh well; I'll read it in her memory as well as for myself. Shall report on contents of same, later.
