It was another blazingly beautiful day today, and I couldn't stand the four walls, or even the three fences of my garden, so I bundled the boys into the back of the car and headed out for a hike. We drove about half an hour out of town to the Gowland Tod Provincial Park and I hiked down to McKenzie Bight. I remembered this as being steep but fairly easy - of course this was from a pre-hip perspective and it was really more than a bit too much, even at only about 3k return trip. It was pretty steep, but a lovely walk through forest smelling sharply of warm pine. Butterflies were fluttering through the sunbeams, and birds were singing, and it was lovely. At the bottom, the boys paddled, then I sat on a rock and ate an apple and looked at this view:

Then I took a few photos of flowers and dragonflies and dogs, (more on my flickr site) then I slowly, slowly, slowly limped back up the hill and came home, tired but happy. I figure a) I need to keep in shape before my op, and b) I might as well make hay while the sun shines, because I have no idea how long it's going to take me to recuperate _after_ the op!
