Actually, it is either moonflower or bindweed, not buckthorn. We're talking about the genus convolvulus, which nicely describes its evil habits. Ours is probably convolvulus sepium - common names are so imprecise :) Buckthorn, as far as I can ascertain, is in the genus rhamnus, and is not the same thing at all.

Ooh... I can be such a pedant when pressed. Sorry :)
