Beardies on Mt Maxwell

To celebrate my birthday, I bundled the boys into the back of the car and took the ferry across to Saltspring Island for the day. It was a beautiful sunny day, if cold, so a perfect one for a Day Out. We took the 9:00 am ferry, got there just after 9:30, and drove to Mt. Maxwell, where I took this portrait of the boys (I took a self portrait of "intertext with beardies at 51" but it was pretty crappy so I think I'll keep it to myself!). Then we went down into Ganges (the main hub of "civilization") for lunch and a poke round second hand bookstores and other nice shops, then to Ruckle park for a fairly long hike and just made the 3:50 ferry back to the "big island" and then home for a hot bath and supper.

What a nice way to spend the day! More pics can be seen at my Flickr site.

Happy Birthday! What a nice birthday present to yourself to have a day with the beardies. Mine almost always falls on an agility trial weekend so not nearly as restful and nice as yours but a day with at least one of the boys nonetheless. A birthday with beardies is better than one without!

Many happy returns!

Thanks! As you can see, the boys are looking a bit scruffy right now. I really need to spend about three days grooming them, but a long hike in the woods is so much more fun!

Thank you! The icon is lovely! I'll add it to my "superfoo" collection :)
