Your Score: Sren Kierkegaard

You scored 33 realism, 44 rationalism, 33 materialism, and 55 atomism!

Your philosopher is Sren Aabye Kierkegaard (May 5, 1813 - November 11, 1855), a 19th century Danish philosopher who is generally recognized as the first existentialist philosopher. Much of his work deals with religious problems such as the nature of faith, the institution of the Christian church, and Christian ethics and theology. Kierkegaard is best known for the concept of the 'leap of faith'.

You value true individuality. Becoming aware of your true self is your true task and endeavor in life. It is an ethical imperative, necessary to achieve true spirituality. To you, people who live simply in terms of their pleasures - their immediate satisfaction of desires, propensities, or distractions - simply glide through life without direction or purpose. To have a direction, we must have a purpose that defines for us the meaning of our lives.

Your philosopher is Plato (c. 427 BC c. 347 BC), an immensely influential classical Greek philosopher, student of Socrates, teacher of Aristotle, writer, and founder of the Academy in Athens.

You divide the world into two distinct aspects: the intelligible world of "forms" and the perceptual world we see around us. You see the perceptual world, and the things in it, as imperfect copies of the intelligible forms or ideas. These forms are unchangeable and perfect, and are only comprehensible by the use of the intellect or understanding. The ultimate idealist, you believe in the virtue of humanity, the purity of music, the essence of morality.

Please remind me - what is "atomism"? Apparently it's a big part of you . . .

I know! I only have vague recollections about it, from reading Lucretius in Latin as an undergrad. I'd need to look it up.
