All my "wide" shots of the garden turned out pretty crappily - it seems to be difficult to capture that sense of riotous bloom. I found the most successful to be taken with my longer lense because it brings everything together, even though you lose depth of field. If I'd had a tripod, I could have done things with a wider aperture (I had my gorilla pod but nothing to attach it to and crowds of people precluding long stops - professional photographers get time to themselves in these places)
And yes, Giverny is definitely a "must see" - it's absolutely fabulous. I was lucky, too, to catch it probably at its peak of bloom (I timed the trip for May largely because of that aspect)
