Thinking about the attack of the killer vampire hummingbirds.

The scent of cherry blossom in the air is sweet and lovely.

Daddy, you bastard, I'm through.

What's happened to Mrs. Riseborough's house? It looks like a disaster has struck.

Student struck dead by lightning bolt when opening email.

Woo hoo! Won another Photo Face Off Challenge on Flickr!

And another one!

Why are urban fantasies always about the scruffy and the marginal? Proud, haughty Elves in HR seems much more likely.

Strange, autistic, alcoholic Billy in the park gave me a hug when I told him about Cholmondeley. It was oddly comforting.

(PS: if anyone should wish to find me on Twitter, I'm debbieg)

Hugs from unlikely people can be the most comforting. Maybe because the givers *are* unlikely? Not to undervalue hugs from generous hug-givers, of course... The most special hug I ever got, though was from a stranger; I'll always remember it.

Proud haughty elves in HR where HR stands for what? The two thoughts that come to my mind, human resources and homeroom, seem unlikely.

How lovely that you have cherry blossoms!

Sorry about your dad, too :-|

Although I like some grungy urban fantasy, I love the idea of elves in HR.

Congrats on the Flickr wins, too. You really should be Twittering this glorious stuff!

I'm trying to remember where I was with a panel on exactly that. Farthing Party, maybe.

Actually it may have been more on magic. There are gazillions of books about scruffy gritty street magic, or nature magic, or music magic, and of course the entire world is filled with cats. But who writes about bureaucratic magic? The wizard who uses their power to cut the red tape and keep the trains moving?

I wonder if DWJ (e.g. Chrestomanci or the Magids) counts.

I'm not sure if I see elves in HR. I think they'd see it as beneath their station.
