Margaret Mahy (do I have her in my "interests"? remind me to add her...) has won the world's top prize for Children's Literature - the Hans Christian Anderson Award. This is something of the equivalent of a Nobel prize in children's lit circles, awarded biennially for a lifetime's achievement. Mahy is a remarkably versatile and prolific writer, whose works encompass everything from picture books to YA psychological thrillers. Her book, The Changeover is one of my all-time favourite books, and I also love The Haunting, The Catalogue of the Universe and The Tricksters. Richly deserved! Read more.
