Yesterday was a beautiful, almost summery, day. I felt the urge to do something, and gave my friend kp a call; by happy chance, she was just on her way out to go to the Abkhazi garden, which was open free of admission for a plant sale. So I joined the expedition, and we toured the beautiful garden, bought a couple of plants each, and I, of course, took pictures that you will find under the cut )

Afterwards, we repaired to the Cook St Village, where we went to Rose's Diner for breakfasty lunchy food. I had the best bennie I've had for a long time, and was delighted to be able to get a half order, with only one egg, instead of the two-egg serving that I always have trouble finishing.

I took kp home, then took Robinson out for a walk on the Westsong way, where I saw cut for more piccies )

Thence, it was home again, where I took more pictures for a Flickr group challenge, cooked supper and watched the first episode of True Blood, which was rather good - now I have to download more!

Today I think I'm meeting [livejournal.com profile] lidocafe for lunch, and will be doing some gardening. I like holiday weekends :)

Actually don't get me down. At least, not when they include a very pleasant lunch with the always delightful [livejournal.com profile] lidocafe. We went to a restaurant in Oak Bay that neither of us had been to before ... The Blue Coast? Was that it? It reminded me a bit of a hotel restaurant, with that air of solid respectability and tasteful interior design. It seemed a place where seniors would feel comfortable; however, I should not damn it with faint praise, because the food was fresh and tasty and the menu was quite appealing.

I have now, fairly recently, eaten two different vegetable soups with cheese in them - one was cauliflower with cheese and today's was broccoli with cheese. Both were very good, and I am inspired to seek out a recipe and try it for myself.

When I got home, I went and did some gardening, despite the rain. I wanted to get two blueberry bushes planted, and some strawberry plants, and I did, so that was good.

Other than that, I've mostly just faffed around all day. Tonight I think I'll watch either a movie or Remington Steele (which I have the first dvd disk of from Zip). Then tomorrow I'll focus on some academic work. Yay!
