Okay, Venice was terrific, but the Diana Wynne Jones Conference was sublime.
It's hard to summarize three days of non-stop intellectual stimulation, book-talk, meeting of friends, and general Good TimesTM. The papers were wide-ranging and of very high quality. For me, there was added delight in the fact that long-time and very dear LJ friends like
owlfish,
gillo and of course
lady_schrapnell and
steepholm were there. I got to meet the latter two in person for the first time, which was thoroughly delightful. I also got to meet newer friends like
heleninwales and
emmaco, and made new friends as well.
Oh, and I think my paper went pretty well :-)
My Penzance hotel internet access is about to expire, so more later...
