Passing a Catholic School today, I saw one of those notice-board/billboard thingies that all schools seem to have nowadays. It read "Congratulations Swimming Sharks in Holy Water Challenge!"

Is it just me, or does anyone else have irresistible visions of children in school uniforms with flasks of holy water flicking it at each other?

Maybe it's just too much Buffy...

Not at all. What a silly imagination you have! Being sensible, I have visions of a team of sharks, wearing sleeky but glitzy swimming costumes and sporting matching grins, doing synchronized swimming in a large vat of holy water. I'm not sure why the holy water is necessary, though. Perhaps there are a lot of vampires in the crowd, or something.

Exactly. My first reaction was "That's a WHOLE lot of Holy Water" and wondering how well water blessings scale, or if it needs to be done in small batches to be effective.

Having visions of sharks circling in the font waiting for an infant snack

I saw that sign and chuckled. I was instead wondering how they would adequately bless a whole swimming pool.......
