Twenty three seems to have been a significant number for my mum: born June 23, 1923, died January 23, 2006.

Four years ago.

My sympathies to you.

And in one way it feels longer and in another it feels like mere weeks, right?

She'd be proud of all you've done since she moved on.

Thanks. In some ways that's one of the hardest things. I wish she could see me now, instead of the worn shadow that I was in the last years she was alive. I wish she could have brought herself to free me to live a fuller life while she was still alive ...

I totally get that. I often feel that I wish my grandmother and my dad could see me now. Your mom was who she was, though, and you were who you were then, and the future cannot always be dreamt of. Love your mum, and face forward, my dear. Face forward.
