I'm so sorry to miss you, and to make matters worse, no it didn't. And I can't reach the publisher. I was out of sorts all day as a result. On the upside, slender as that upside is, I got a lot of work done. But I'd rather have been meeting you!
And guess what showed up today? I can see now why it was delayed. The post room shoehorned an enormous script and proof into a too-small envelope which proceeded to break apart in transit, requiring a stout PO plastic bag. This is the second time lately the post room has done something like this, so I am going to suggest to the editorial assistant that she yell at the post room a bit. I would still rather have been in London yesterday!
What a drag, and how inefficient of the postroom. At least it got there, if not in a timely fashion. I hope you and oursin have a great time at Wiscon - all the best people are going, obviously :) Again, sorry to have missed you, but I'm sure I'll be back again sometime soon (maybe I can manage a conference, and get the college to pay my way, ha ha)
