I do miss my "boys," though

I hope they're doing okay... This photo is to make me feel good, and also because owlfish said yesterday she hadn't realized I was a dog person because I never post photos of my dogs. Note my icons, too - I'm trying to get them all dog related in some way!

Hey! congratulations on your marriage. I know that's something you've been planning for a long time :) My d's are being cared for by a sort of relative: the breeder of the older one's father and the younger one's grandfather. She takes dogs into her house, so it's not for them as much like being in a kennel. She has acreage by Prospect Lake, so they should have a nice time. There will be other beardies there, too, so it's almost like them visiting their relatives!

I guess it's easier for dogs--they don't mind being in different places. To make arrangements for our cat involves making sure mom has a house key and a schedule for feeding. I've only had to leave Major in a kennel-like situation once, when he was in the veterinary hospital. I worry about doing that because he was a stray that the SPCA had for a long time before we adopted him, so I don't want him to feel like we're leaving him somewhere.

Dogs very much notice. Sure, if they're the sort that get along with other dogs, they might get distracted in the moment if they're out in a field playing with other dogs. But dogs are intensely bonded to their owners, and notice very much when they go away. I'm sure they're missing their mummy very much. :)

Oh, it wasn't a question of dog/owner bond! Of course they love their people very much. I was always led to believe that they don't have the same trouble with location changes as cats. My cat can barely handle it if I move a chair, let alone take him to another location! You should have seen him when we moved his litter box two feet to the left. Utterly upset and confused. :D
