I'm not sure what the invalid text is, though.
ETA: I followed the lj link to Change Settings, changed it to 'Western European' and now the edit function works. Huh.

Ok, yes that was my error (and fix). Maybe dreamwidth encodings by default, and since LJ (until you set that) doesn't, it throws the error?
Or maybe it was only an issue if you had accented or other characters in your post?
