I have to report that I am now watching "Angel" to assuage somewhat my Buffy withdrawal. It serves the purpose; I'm enjoying it, though have to confess that I'm hoping for an antidote to two very tragic episodes in a row. In one, Angel becomes human for a day and a night, long enough to spend a passionate time with Buffy, who was visiting. In a noble sacrifice, he gives up being human in order to continue his mission to fight evil and better protect his true love. He remembers; she doesn't. Sniff. And THEN, in the very next episode, Doyle, whom I really liked, gives his life in an intense, noble, heroic way. Sniff sniff.

Ah, but there's a wonderful Rogue Demon Hunter on the horizon!

Angel just is darker than Buffy - but it has some wonderful stuff to offer. And occasionally some familiar faces.

Yes, indeed. The Rogue Demon Hunter ("what's a rogue demon?" asks Cordelia...) has arrived, and that episode was delightful. Spikey-poo (if you'll excuse the nickname) has already appeared once, and the dvd cover of the last season of Angel indicates that he did not, in fact, perish in the Apocalypse at the end of Buffy...

Oh, Doyle. *sniff* Now I remember why I stopped watching Angel.

Yeah, I _really_ liked Doyle. That was quite a shock.

Bufyf's men are always making her decisions for her - Angel decides she needs him more as a fellow fighter-of-evil, Riley decides she doesn't love him. I'd go with Spike, myself - he's ornery but he only makes decision for himself.

Oh, definitely, it would be Spike for me. I could never quite understand why Buffy didn't quite "get" him... And you're right, he cares about her, but doesn't try and run her life.

It's the loneliness of the long-distance slayer. I have been netflixing Buffy and Angel and watched them in order. So now I'm on Angel, season 5. It only gets darker, but in some ways it's as good or better than Buffy.

Ah, you're ahead of me, but I've been doing the same thing, renting a dvd or two per week. I've now worked my way through all of Buffy, and am just on Season 1 of Angel, so have something to look forward to, obviously. It does fill the gap left by Buffy.

Yep -- but because I watched them interspersed, so that the crossovers made sense.
