Okay, Venice was terrific, but the Diana Wynne Jones Conference was sublime.
It's hard to summarize three days of non-stop intellectual stimulation, book-talk, meeting of friends, and general Good TimesTM. The papers were wide-ranging and of very high quality. For me, there was added delight in the fact that long-time and very dear LJ friends like![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
owlfish, gillo and of course lady_schrapnell and steepholm were there. I got to meet the latter two in person for the first time, which was thoroughly delightful. I also got to meet newer friends like heleninwales and emmaco, and made new friends as well.
Oh, and I think my paper went pretty well :-)

I'm still trying to process it all - so many new things to think about. And possibly 30+ books to re-read in new contexts.
It was simply enormous fun too, though - a fannish weekend but with added Thinky Thoughts.
