Help me, oh my friendly internets.

I've been feeling unaccountably glum for ... almost a week now. I would have put it down to the "holidays" (never a good time), but don't seem to be able to shake it off. I just feel overwhelmed and inadequate and old and sad, and I don't want to carry this feeling into the new year.

Please send good thoughts and/or something to make me smile.

Have you run across It Made My Day (http://itmademyday.com/) yet?

I hadn't seen that before - thank you :)

How about some wordless and utterly unselfish love?

Or . . . totally awesome color, music, and story?

Oh, puppy/kitty love. Thank you. And the awesomeness, too.

Oh, the first from Sartorias is so sweet--I hope that brings you a smile.

Sending you all my good thoughts.

... when I feel overwhelmed, I shrink down and try doing just really tiny, really small things that I can accomplish and feel good about, until I feel strong enough to look at all the mess and chaos that needs dealing with...

Thank you so much - you're right, of course. It's hardest when you're stuck in your own head and even feeling cynical about doing things to make yourself feel better! All these cheery comments really help.

Last night I ate half a pint of Ben and Jerry's for dinner while watching Xfiles.

I tried to post this before, but it was restricted to the UK. I hope this grainier version might work...

Have you seen this? Armstrong and Mitchell (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G2kD1YUtA5o) do Electric Six.

Sending good thoughts, as I realise Soluble Urethral Crayons (http://oursin.dreamwidth.org/1154376.html) are not necessarily everybody's idea of amusement.

January's coming and that's never a good month for you, for obvious reasons. And Christmas is tiring as well as enjoyable.

And you are a rocking person like a rocking horse but more of a person. It was wonderful to spend so much time with you last summer, doing something that was so much fun as well. And there will be more times.

{{{hugs}}}

thank you. *hugs back* You are pretty awesome yourself! And yes, I hope there will be more such good times.

I didn't have time to look for anything cheery last night, but how about this? Morris dancing is usually associated with May Day, but as Terry Pratchett knew, it's also about the darkest time of year.

And if all else fails, there are always kittens (http://www.flickr.com/search/?q=kittens&s=int&z=e). :)

There's something so hilarious about morris dancing - yes - very cheering. Thanks ;-)

If you ever need assurance as to how much you rock, always remember that you have an entire mythology surrounding you. Which I should actually write out one of these days and give to you.

I don't have any recommendations on the internet (I just watch parodies of infomercials which is weird), but I am sending you all my loves! <3 I hope you kick the crap out of the holiday blues.
Thursday, December 31st, 2009 09:48 pm (UTC)
Thank you. How could I forget my mythology?? I have your post from my last birthday saved as a "memory" ;-) And there's some very powerful kicking going on - I think the blues are starting to get tired and withdraw.

Yay! I'm glad the blues are being booted. I'm super excited to see you in a few days! It's not as often as before that Film Group can get together.

I'm sorry I didn't see this or your next post... but here's this, just to remind you...http://www.lolcatbible.com/index.php?title=Main_Page

ahaha - that's great. Thank you. Another kick in the balls for the blues ;-)

Go to the ocean. Contemplate it's bigness, its rhythms, its life, its dependability, its insistence, its ever-renewed tides. That, my dear, is your heart.

and imagine that prufundity without the dratted apostrophe mishap . . .
Thursday, December 31st, 2009 11:16 pm (UTC)
hahaha. I think it's catching ;-) But thank you. I took the doglets out for a very wet walk in the rain - I think I'll save contemplating the ebb and flow of human misery for another day.
